Jake is a native of Oklahoma and has been professionally interpreting since 2013. He holds a Master of Science in ASL/English Interpreting from the University of North Florida and credentials from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, the Texas Board for Evaluation of Interpreters, and the Oklahoma Supreme Court, among others. His practice has grown from video relay and community work into specialized areas including platform, performance, and business. He has contributed to interpreter development through teaching, mentoring, and presenting at the local and state level on topics related to interpreting and Deaf education. He has served OKRID in various volunteer leadership roles including committee and board service for over a decade. He currently serves as Interpreting Services Manager at DOOR International, a global Deaf missions and Bible translation ministry, and maintains a private practice through Scissortail Interpreting, LLC, based in Oklahoma City.
